Gepps Cross is a double-storey house project in Gepps Cross, SA 5094, built on a block that previously carried a house.
Its published record covers the part of a rebuild that leaves the least behind to look at: the cleared site, then earthworks with an excavator working the ground. Between those two images sits everything the ground has to be brought to before a footing can go in — level, drainage falls, and whatever the previous building left below the surface. Old footings sit deeper than the surface suggests, and backfilled service trenches are not the same bearing material as the ground beside them.
